Booking conditions

CONDITIONS AND GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

These terms and conditions apply to bookings of all activities and equipment.
You must know how to swim.
Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult, or have written permission signed by an adult.
Maximum weight 120kg. Maximum height: 2m (please contact us if you reach the maximum permitted or are over).
Please advise of any disability, illness or possible pregnancy before booking. Clients undertake not to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs and/or narcotics, or any medicine that might inhibit reaction capacity.
Clients undertake to follow at all times directions given by the guide or instructor in charge of the activity.
Menorca en Kayak and our guides cannot be held responsible for personal injury, lost or damaged equipment as a result of incorrect use and/or not following instructions.
Advance booking essential. To confirm a booking, the total fee must be paid in full.
MENORCA EN KAYAK reserves the right to modify timetables or cancel any activity for safety reasons due to weather conditions.
MENORCA EN KAYAK´s responsibility begins at the start of the booked activity.
The contract and responsibility of MENORCA EN KAYAK covers exclusively the instructors’ job and the organisation of the activity.
Making a payment implies full acceptance of our terms and conditions. Clients are to make their own way to the start of the activity (please enquire which ones have a transfer service included).
Menorca en Kayak reserves the right to refuse admission to persons who might be under the above mentioned influence.
We reserve the right to alter and modify our terms and conditions with no previous notice to clients. We do our utmost to fulfill booking terms. Our cancelation policy cannot be modified.
We recommend all clients have their own medical/travel insurance.
Any claims or complaints against Menorca en Kayak will be dealt with in Mahón courts and tribunals.

EQUIPMENT RENTAL

For all equipment rentals, clients are to sign the following text:

“I hereby accept all responsibility for my own safety during the rental period. I am aware that sea kayaking involves some risk and I shall be aware of these risks while in the sea. I shall return the equipment in the same condition I received it. If the equipment is not returned during the stipulated period of time or is in any way damaged, MENORCA EN KAYAK reserves the right to claim any extra costs incurred by the delay or the damage to the equipment.”

No refunds or cancellations of booked equipment if weather conditions are not to the client’s satisfaction (rain, wind, etc).

No refund of the pre-booking fee once completed.

CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS FOR SEA KAYAK RENTAL

For rentals of several days, some sea kayaking experience is necessary. For those with insufficient experience, you would need to take a basic sea kayaking course beforehand, and go with an instructor on some kayaking trips of several hours.
Advance booking essential, through payment of a deposit of 20% of the total amount.
To confirm the booking, the client must pay the total amount in full.

GUIDED ROUTES OVER SEVERAL DAYS (sea kayak)

We run guided routes for a minimum of one person in organized groups (see calendar for dates) and a minimum of 4 people for private parties. Groups are no more than 8 – 10 people, with a qualified guide for every 7 kayaks.
We use single sea kayaks. A double sea kayak is always included as a safety measure and can also be requested by the client when making the booking.
The group is at all times assisted by qualified guide-instructors during the tour.

Some sea kayaking experience is necessary for guided routes that last several days.

For those with insufficient experience, you would need to take a basic sea kayaking course beforehand, and go with an instructor on some kayaking trips of several hours.

BOOKING GUIDED ROUTES

Advance booking essential, through payment of a deposit of 20% of total amount.

To confirm the booking, the client must pay the total amount in full.

GUIDED EXCURSIONS

We organise trips for a minimum of 2 people
We use double sit on top kayaks. Single kayaks are used only if there are odd numbers or by special request when a client makes a booking and if the instructor considers it advisable.
Throughout the trip, the group is accompanied by a qualified guide-instructor.
Paddling is quite straightforward. Basic paddling techniques are explained before setting out, so everyone can manage the excursion easily. During the excursion there are several breaks for a rest.
You need to be at the meeting point 15-20 minutes before the start of the activity. Please ensure you arrive in plenty of time. The group might leave without you if you are late. If this occurs, your booking is not refunded.

No previous experience is needed or any particular level of fitness for the guided excursions to:

CANCELLATION POLICY

ACTIVITIES AND KAYAK AND SUP RENTAL BY THE HOUR

Terms of service:
For tours, rates are per person and 21% VAT is included.

For kayak and SUP rentals, rates are per item, not per person, and include 21% VAT.

The activity and rental include a self-bailing kayak or SUP, paddle, life jacket and dry bag. Additional services, such as transportation, are the responsibility of the client.

Cancellation due to weather conditions:
In case of adverse weather conditions, MENORCA EN KAYAK may reschedule or cancel the activity. In that case, the customer is entitled to reschedule or receive a full refund.
Customer cancellation:
• 7 or more days in advance: a full refund of the reservation amount will be given.
• Less than 7 days in advance: a 30% penalty of the total reservation amount applies.
• Less than 48 hours: a 100% penalty of the total reservation amount applies.
If the customer does not show up on the agreed date and time, the full reservation amount will be charged.
Insurance and acceptance of conditions:
A confirmed reservation implies acceptance of all the conditions set out here. If a person makes a reservation on behalf of another(s), they will assume all of these conditions.

*No exceptions can be made to our cancellation policy for any reason, including weather, terrorism, civil unrest, pandemics, or personal, family, or medical emergencies. No refunds are given for late arrivals or early departures. Cancellation charges are calculated as a percentage of the total trip price.

SEA KAYAK RENTAL

Service Conditions:
For sea kayak rentals, the rates are per item and include 21% VAT.
The price includes a sea kayak, paddle, life jacket, spray skirt, 1 dry bag, safety equipment such as a spare paddle and tow rope, bucket, and sponge.
External services such as transport must be arranged separately. Accommodation is the customer’s responsibility.
Cancellation due to weather conditions:
Activities are subject to weather conditions and the state of the sea. For this reason, MENORCA EN KAYAK may be forced to change or cancel the rental, even during the contracted period. In this case, the customer will be entitled to a postponement of the rental service, a refund of the amount paid, or part of it.
No refund will be given if weather conditions are not satisfactory for customers.
No refund will be given if the customer decides to abandon due to inexperience.
Customer cancellation:
The customer may cancel or modify the contracted services and will be entitled to a refund of the amounts paid after submitting a written cancellation notice via email.
The following penalty criteria will apply:
• 10% management fee on the total reservation price will be charged.
• 15 or more days in advance: a 20% penalty of the total reservation amount applies.
• Between 14 and 5 days in advance: a 25% penalty of the total reservation amount applies.
• Less than 5 days in advance: a 100% penalty of the total reservation amount applies.
If the customer does not show up on the agreed date and time, the full reservation amount will be charged.
We strongly recommend that customers purchase travel insurance. It provides peace of mind in case you need to cancel.
Insurance and acceptance of conditions:
Necessary insurance for the activity is included. By confirming the reservation, the customer accepts the general conditions.

CONDITIONS FOR MULTI-DAY GUIDED TOURS

Service Conditions:

Our rates per person include 21% VAT and the mandatory civil liability and accident insurance required by the decree regulating canoeing activities by the Balearic Government (30/1998, of March 6, profitable centres for canoeing nautical activities).
The rates include all the necessary technical equipment to enjoy the activity, which you can consult in the technical sheet on our website.
The hiring of external services (accommodation, transport…) will be the responsibility of the client, although sometimes they can be managed by MENORCA EN KAYAK.
We rarely cancel, but if a cancellation is unavoidable, we will issue a full refund or do our best to enroll you in an equivalent program; you decide. We strive to make these decisions at least 30 days before the start date of the program. If you are purchasing a plane ticket or making other reservations to attend this activity, we strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation insurance.

Weather Conditions

Our activities are subject to weather conditions and sea state. For this reason, MENORCA EN KAYAK may be forced to change or cancel the activity even during its execution. In this case, the customer will be entitled to a postponement of the activity or a refund of the amount paid, or part of it.
No refund will be given if weather conditions are not satisfactory to the customer.
No refund will be given if the customer decides to abandon due to inexperience.

Cancellations and Modifications

The customer may cancel or modify the contracted services and will be entitled to a refund of the amounts paid after receiving a written cancellation notice via email.

A significant portion of our expenses are committed well in advance of departure, so we apply the following penalty criteria:

A management fee of 10% of the total reservation price will be charged.
30 or more days before: a 20% penalty of the total reservation amount applies.
Less than 30 days before: a 100% penalty of the total reservation amount applies.

If the customer does not show up on the agreed date and time, the full reservation amount will be charged.

We strongly recommend that customers purchase travel insurance. It provides peace of mind in case of cancellation.

Necessary insurance for the activity is included. By confirming the reservation, the customer accepts the general conditions.

* No exceptions can be made to our cancellation policy for any reason, including weather, terrorism, civil unrest, pandemics, personal, family, or medical emergencies. No refunds are given for late arrivals or early departures. Cancellation charges are calculated as a percentage of the total trip price.

SCHOOL GROUPS

To confirm the booking, a 30% deposit of the total price must be made at least 30 days prior to the activity. The remaining payment must be made 15 days before the activity date.
Seven days before the event, it is essential to confirm the exact number of participants. From that point, this number cannot be modified, except in cases of illness or serious health problems (official medical certificate required), in which case no discount will apply.

Cancellation conditions for groups:

10 days in advance, a 25% penalty of the total booking amount will apply.
Between 9 and 4 days in advance, a 50% penalty of the total booking amount will apply.
3 days or less in advance, a 100% penalty of the total booking amount will apply.

SPECIAL GROUPS

To confirm the booking, a 30% deposit of the total price must be made at least 30 days prior to the activity. The remaining payment must be made 15 days before the activity date.
The final number of participants must be confirmed 15 days before. From that point on, it will not be possible to reduce it. Any cancellations will not be refunded.

Cancellation conditions for groups:

A 10% management fee will apply on the total booking amount.
10 days in advance, a 25% penalty of the total booking amount will apply.
Between 9 and 4 days in advance, a 50% penalty of the total booking amount will apply.
